Buhari’s remains leave London for Daura

The remains of the immediate past president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari departed London on Tuesday morning en route to his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, for a state burial.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is leading a high-powered Federal Government delegation to oversee final documentation and logistical preparations for the repatriation of the late president’s body.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced on Monday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will personally receive Buhari’s remains upon arrival in Katsina before the final interment in Daura.

Buhari passed away on Sunday at a hospital in London. According to Idris, the former president’s body is expected to arrive in Nigeria by noon on Tuesday.
