Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a 50 percent reduction in fares on the Lagos Blue Line rail service for Thursday, September 4, 2025, to commemorate the second anniversary of the metro line’s launch.
The Blue Line, which began commercial operations in September 2023, connects Marina to Mile 2 and has transported more than five million passengers since inception.
“In these two years, the Blue Line has carried more than five million passengers safely, without a single accident,” Sanwo-Olu said in a statement on Wednesday. “Trains now run every ten minutes, making over 90 trips each day. Journeys that once took much longer have become faster and easier.”
The governor praised Lagos residents for their support, noting that the project reflects a shared commitment to building a greater city.
“To mark this second anniversary, I am pleased to announce a 50% reduction in fares on the Blue Line for tomorrow, Thursday, September 4, 2025,” he said. “If you have not yet experienced the Blue Line, I encourage you to take a ride and see what we have built together.”
Sanwo-Olu added that his administration remains committed to improving mobility across Lagos, saying: “Our journey is far from over. Step by step, we are creating the Lagos we all desire, building a city where moving around is easier, safer, and faster.”
