In a recent episode of the It’s Giving podcast, hosted by Sarah Fontenot, Snoop Dogg candidly shared his unease with LGBTQ+ themes in the Disney-Pixar movie Lightyear after watching it with his grandson.
He recalled being caught off guard when his grandson asked, “Papa Snoop, how she have a baby with a woman? She a woman.” Snoop admitted that he wasn’t prepared for such a question in a theater setting and felt ill-equipped to respond. “I didn’t come in for this… I just came to watch the goddamn movie,” he said, adding that the moment “threw me for a loop” and left him “scared to go to the movies now.”
Snoop questioned whether children’s films should address these topics at all. “These are kids. We have to show that at this age?” he asked, reflecting his discomfort with the portrayal
The film itself had already made headlines for featuring an openly lesbian couple raising a child and including Pixar’s first same-sex kiss—a scene that had initially been cut, then restored following internal pushback.
