Controversy trails Mohbad’s death

Nigerian music sensation Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known by his stage name Mohbad, has tragically passed away.

The news comes as a devastating blow to the music industry and his countless fans in Nigeria and the Diaspora.

According to a source close to the singer’s team, Mohbad was rushed to the hospital in the early hours of today, Tuesday, September 12, 2023, seeking medical treatment.

Tragically, after receiving an injection, Mohbad lost consciousness and, despite efforts to revive him, did not regain consciousness.

The circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death are compounded by a tumultuous chapter in his life, marked by a highly publicized dispute with his record label, Marlian Music.

The conflict between the artist and the label involved allegations of physical violence, drug use, unpaid royalties, and contract termination.

Mohbad had also expressed concerns about his safety, hinting that his life was in danger.

Renowned Nigerian musician Bella Shmurda shed light on the turmoil in a recent interview, where he disclosed that Mohbad had attempted suicide during the height of the dispute.

Bella Shmurda claimed that Mohbad had contemplated jumping out of a window before his girlfriend intervened to prevent the tragedy.

Additionally, Mohbad had been seeking medical attention for hypertension, which he attributed to the stress and challenges associated with his label issues.

In a chilling video that went viral, Mohbad voiced his concerns about his safety and made shocking allegations against his record label and its founder, Naira Marley.

The recent events took an even more sinister turn as Mohbad, along with fellow artists Zinoleesky, Shubomi, Micee, and Dosky, were reportedly arrested before Mohbad’s subsequent release.

These developments have left the music industry and fans in shock and mourning the untimely loss of a talented artist.
